  • Renewals not allowed if another user has a hold on the item
  • The Library reserves the right to recall any loaned item at its discretion.
  • Dissertations are loaned on a case-by-case basis
  • Interlibrary Loan durations and renewals are determined by the lending institution.
  • Library users are not allowed to check out items if there is an overdue item on their account.

Long Overdue Material

The library reserves the right to place a registration hold on student and alumni accounts once borrowed material becomes 30 days or more overdue. Such holds prevent students and alumni from registering for classes and obtaining transcripts.

Items more than 60 days overdue are considered lost.

Damaged And Lost Material

In the event of loss or damage to library materials, the Library may bill the library user for the replacement cost of the material or accept an identical replacement copy. Replacement costs are non-refundable.

Non-Erikson-affiliated visitors

Policy for non-Erikson-affiliated visitors

Erikson Institute is a private building, but we are open to current students, staff, and faculty members at higher education institutions. You must contact us in advance at (312) 893-7210 to arrange your visit. On the day of your visit, please bring your college or university ID card.

If you are here for a professional development event or meeting, you are welcome to utilize the library’s computers, databases, and assorted materials.

We are unable to extend borrowing privileges to users who are not Erikson staff, faculty, students, or alumni.  To borrow materials from us, please contact your local public or school library to place an interlibrary loan request.
