General Borrowing Policies

Effective April 1, 2024

  • Renewals will be automatic and you will receive an email notification for each renewal.
  • Renewals are not allowed if another user has placed a hold on the item.
  • Dissertations are loaned on a case-by-case basis.
  • Interlibrary Loan durations and renewals are determined by the lending institution.
  • The Library reserves the right to recall materials if needed for course reserves.
  • Library users are not allowed to check out items if there is an overdue item on their account.
  • All library notices are emailed to a borrower's Erikson email address, or for alumni, the address provided on their borrowing account application.

Long Overdue and Lost Material

Effective July 15, 2024, once an item is 30 days overdue (14 days overdue for assessment kits and electronic devices), it will be considered lost, and the borrower will be charged the cost to replace the item.

Damaged Material

In the event of damage to library materials, the Library may bill the library user for the replacement cost of the material or accept an identical replacement copy.

Did you know that after you graduate from Erikson, you can continue to use most of our library services? Here are the resources available to our alumni.

  • Search the catalog for books, A/V items, and assessment kits (no need to log in).
  • Check out books from the library (will need an alumni account).
  • Borrow books and articles from other libraries through interlibrary loan. Call or email us at libraryhelp@erikson.edu to set up your account.
  • Use our copiers/scanners/printers or die-cut machine.
  • Contact us for help finding specific journal articles.

Research Assistance

Our librarians are glad to assist you with any of your research needs.

Although we will not do your research for you, we can help you refine your search strategy and lead you in a more promising direction. For research help, email libraryhelp@erikson.edu with a detailed explanation of what you’re looking for and allow 2-3 days for our response.
