Borrowing from the Library

Browsing the shelves

  1. Come to the library while we're open, and browse the shelves to find the item you need.
  2. Check out with a staff member, or use our self-checkout machine.

Requesting Items from the library:

  1. Go to the library catalog and log in to your account, using the appropriate option.
    • For the student/staff login, if you are not automatically signed on using single-sign on, use your full Erikson login credentials that are also used to get on to Canvas or Office 365.
    • For alumni, please use your OpenAthens credentials to log in and reach out the library if you do not have an alumni account yet.
  2. Place a hold(s).
  3. Wait to receive your pickup notification email. You will receive it within three business days IF the item is currently available. If the item is checked out to someone else, you will be notified once it is your turn to borrow the material. If the item is lost or missing, we will let you know within three business days.

Receiving Requested Items by mail

  1. Please be sure to write your name and mailing address correctly when placing your holds. If you’re concerned that you incorrectly entered your address, please email libraryhelp@erikson.edu immediately.
  2. We will mail the requested items by USPS Priority Mail within 3 business days after you’ve placed your holds. USPS priority packages can take 2-4 business days for delivery, therefore, we generally advise that it may take 7-10 business days for you to receive your items after you’ve submitted your request.

Returning Borrowed Materials

We do not charge overdue fines, however items are the responsibility of the borrower until they are checked back into the library.

  1. You may mail items back to the Library. You will be required to pay for postage, and will be held responsible if packages are lost.
    • You can use any standard mail carrier such as USPS, Fedex, UPS.
    • TIP: Using the "Media Mail" option with USPS will give you a discounted rate to mail any library materials back.
  2. You also may drop items off at the building:
    • Visit this page for our current open hours.
    • The black library book drop is available in the lobby anytime the building is open.
  3. Email libraryhelp@erikson.edu if you're unable to use the previous two options.

If you have additional questions, or are unable to make it to the building to return books, please email libraryhelp@erikson.edu so that we can work with you to find a solution.
